TGIM: Wine Edition

I never thought I would say this, but Thank Goodness It's Monday! Wine delivery to start off the week...yes, please!

So last week, on a whim, I decided to sign up for Club W. I had seen ads on Facebook and such, but I finally decided to bite the bullet and splurge on myself a little bit. Especially after I received a promo email for a free bottle of wine on my first order!

What is Club W, you may be asking? Club W is the "world's only personalized wine club," meaning that based on your personal preferences, they send you 3 bottles of wine each month for less than $15 a bottle...amazing! When you first sign up, you can take a palette test with questions like, How do you like your coffee?,  Do you like fresh berries?, and How do you feel about mushrooms and other earthy flavors?, all to help assess your wine flavor profile. After this quick assessment, Club W generates both red and white wines for you to choose from. You can pick either 2 reds and 1 white, or 1 red and 2 whites, depending on personal preference. The best part? You get a $13 credit (aka a FREE bottle of wine) with your first purchase!

For my first order, I chose the following wines (in order of the picture above):
  • 2015 Passarola Vinho Branco
  • 2015 Chop Shop Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 2014 Wonderful Wine Co White Blend
  • 2014 Alchymist Nior Red Blend
A cool feature of Club W is that for every 10 wines you rate, you receive a $10 credit. So, rate away, wine lovers!

Aside from having a glass of wine with dinner, I also like to cook with wine. I recently made stuffed herb and Brie mushroom caps with a white wine reduction, and it was heavenly. I learned to cook with wine from my mom. Growing up in Texas, we would always make our spaghetti sauce with venison that my dad had hunted himself. My mom's secret to a delicious spaghetti sauce? Throw some red wine in there! So, I was pleasantly surprised to see not one, but four recipe cards delivered with my wine. They include shrimp tacos with watermelon salsa, coconut milk shrimp risotto with kale pesto, steak and eggs with charred onions & chimichurri, and raw vegan chocolate truffles.

If you'd like to sign up for monthly wine deliveries, you can do so here: If getting three bottles of wine a month seems like a bit too much, don't sweat it! You can skip months or cancel whenever, free of charge.

Can't wait to try these wines! If you have any favorites, comment them below!

Disclaimer: all of these opinions and reviews are my own! I am in no way sponsored by Club W. Just a wine lover happy to share a recent discovery :)

My 2016 Olympics Schedule

Who's ready for the 2016 Summer Olympics?! *insert U-S-A chant*

Last night, Mike and I watched the Opening Ceremonies and I was amazed at the number of athletes competing this year. Makes me wish I was that athletic! It's always interesting to see how choreographers and artistic directors choose to represent their home country, and I thought the ceremony was beautiful (although 2008 Beijing's Opening Ceremonies is still my favorite). And of course, Parade of Nations is the number one thing to watch! *insert U-S-A chant...again*

Right after the ceremony concluded, I got right to work finding events to record for my DVR over the next two weeks. Every 4 years, I look forward to only two events: (Women's) Gymnastics and Equestrian. I find Women's Gymnastics so beautiful, and I can't help but draw similarities to dance when I watch the amazing women compete. My favorite is definitely Simone Biles (go follow her on snapchat: @simonebiles), and it's great to see two Olympic veterans return. As for Equestrian  I used to be a jumper! I began riding horses at the age of 5, and began competing in flat work and hunter/jumper around the age of 10. Sadly, I had to give it up in high school because my ballet schedule was so demanding, but watching the Equestrian events always brings me back to those days. I'll be cheering for Beezie Madden, of course!

If your Olympic interests overlap with mine, check out my DVR schedule below:
